Eagle Superabrasives is a premier supplier of CBN Grinding Wheels. Our CBN Wheels are made in house by our chemist and engineers located in the United States. Our headquarters, located in Hickory, North Carolina boast an extensive inventory of over 6,000 CBN wheels in stock. CBN wheels in inventory are shipped the same day, whereas custom orders can be shipped in as little as seven days. Our CBN wheels can be manufactured all the way up to 30” with no minimum size.
What is CBN and Why is it the best for ferrous grinding wheels?
CBN is a man-made material, created to rival diamond, which is the hardest naturally occurring mineral. CBN stands for cubic born nitride, with a crystal structure similar to that of diamonds. In the diamond structure, carbon atoms are used for the bonds. In the CBN crystal structure, the element borazon replaces carbon atoms. This is important to note, when trying to grind ferrous materials, such as iron. Diamond is not a great abrasive to use when working with ferrous materials, because the carbon atoms react, causing a rapid breakdown of their internal structure. CBN is able to grind ferrous materials due to the borazon atoms not reaction with the elements in ferrous materials.
Why are CBN Wheels from Eagle Superabrasives considered the best grinding wheels?
Our CBN wheels are the “best wheels” due to their ability to produce more pieces per day. In a white paper study, we discuss, how our clients are producing more pieces per day with a single CBN wheel and increasing their profits all with one wheel. The white paper can be found by clicking this link.
Our wheels are also the best on the market, due to the makeup of the bond structures.
Bond type is important when looking for a grinding wheel. The bond is typically where a high-performance grinding wheel breaks down. If the bond is poorly done, the wheels working life, is significantly altered. However, if you speak to our in-house chemist and engineers about our bonding styles, you will notice the significance they impose on choosing the correct bonds. Also the way you dress the CBN wheel, will play a large role. Check out our video below!
